The Association of Supervisors of Banks of the Americas
is formed by the entities in charge of banking supervision
in each of the countries of the American continent. Its
main objectives are:

Promote and maintain close communication among the
Association’s Members, in order to facilitate
co-operation among them, and to promote the improvement
of their respective capabilities; |

Provide
its members with a high-level discussion forum for
the exchange of information, ideas, techniques,
experiences and knowledge over their scope of competence. |
| |
Promote research as well as systematic and permanent
training programs, with the purpose of establishing
training standards in the region and providing technical
co-operation services among its Members; |
| |
Promote
co-operation and exchange relationships with non-member
bank supervisors, with similar associations as well
as with international and multilateral institutions,
engaged in activities similar to those of the Association;

| |
Perform
any general activity related to its purposes. |

ASBA currently
maintains close links with many international fora, such
as the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, and with
different regional groups of supervisors.
